Ribbon Cutting Celebrating 8 is Great
February 26, 2019
The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce is happy to announce that its new member, Wings Over Water School of Swimming, has scheduled its 8th year anniversary celebration for Tuesday, February 26th. The official ribbon cutting ceremony will be officiated by First Selectman Michael Tetreau, at 3:30PM.
Founder and owner Edie Flood has been teaching for over 30 years and opened her first aquatic facility in Brewster, New York in 2001. She personally had two near drowning experiences as a child and then later on when she was a lifeguard. It was around that time that Edie became passionate about helping others to be safe and comfortable in the water. She began swim lessons at a local pool but she knew one day she would have her own facility. Drowning Is Preventable is part of the company motto. She is the creator of the Swimplicity curriculum, which is a swim program unique to Wings Over Water.
Eight years ago, Edie designed, created and opened the Fairfield location on Black Rock Turnpike. What was once a cement storage area, the vacant space was then beautifully transformed into a magical place where infants, children and adults can come for swim instruction and enjoyment.
Wings Over Water School of Swimming has a focused philosophy: to provide children and adults with the opportunity to experience the aquatic environment in a safe and joyful way. This is achieved by creating a personal relationship with the water focusing on safety and comfort in the water.
