About Us

Fairfield University is a comprehensive Jesuit university that prepares students for lives of leadership and service in a constantly changing world. Aside from its role as an acclaimed undergraduate institution, the University also offers an array of graduate studies in business, engineering, mathematics, education and allied professions, nursing, and American Studies. Fairfield University ranked third among universities with master's programs in the North by ''U.S. News & World Report.''
An AACSB International-accredited institution, the Charles F. Dolan School of Business offers an M.S. in Finance degree as well as M.B.A. programs in accounting and taxation, finance, general management, human resource management, information systems & operations management, international business, and marketing. Generous contributions from individuals such as Mr. Dolan have enabled the graduate program to grow in the past few years. Its strong connections to corporate America, coupled with its proximity to New York City, have made the graduate program ideal for those currently employed or seeking to transition within the business world.
The School of Engineering has just introduced a new Master of Science degree program in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Along with the two current Master's programs in Software Engineering and in Management of Technology, these graduate degree offerings provide engineers with opportunities for specialized advanced studies in areas of crucial interest to modern industrial and technology enterprises. Whether the need is for hardware or software solutions, graduates of these Master's programs will be decision makers in the evolution and management of technology in their companies, and an invaluable asset to their employers.
Graduate students pursuing a Master of Science in Mathematics, come from both the business world and the field of education. They work closely with faculty members in order to challenge, as well as to refine, their mathematical skills.
Through the School of Nursing master's degree and post-master's certificate programs, students prepare for professional practice in one of two roles: as a nurse practitioner specializing in adult, family, or psychiatric care; or, as a healthcare systems leader. The School's curricula meet all state and national standards, and its graduates have been highly successful, with virtually 100 percent job placement after graduation. The University's nursing faculty maintain clinical expertise through active practice, while students gain valuable experience in a wide range of carefully supervised clinical placements.
The graduate program in American Studies provides students the opportunity to enrich their understanding of the American experience through a wide array of courses arranged within an interdisciplinary method of learning. The program is not merely for those entering or currently working in the field of education; it also serves as a challenge to anyone from stay-at-home parents to retirees, who are searching for an academically challenging and intellectually stimulating experience.
The University's Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions allows students to explore careers in education as well as the allied professions of special education, school counseling, community counseling, marriage and family therapy, school psychology and applied psychology. In its most recent reaccredidation, the GSEAP was noted to have met all state standards at either the ''fully met'' or ''met with distinction'' levels -- an accomplishment that no other Connecticut institution has achieved.
With new classrooms and offices opened this past year, University College, Fairfield University's program for continuing studies, has improved its programs to focus on the academic needs of its part-time students. University College provides an outlet to corporations, community organizations and individuals who wish to benefit from the University's many academic resources. Students can strengthen their existing credentials through professional development non- credit certificates and advanced professional certificates. They can also pursue academic resources abroad via the College's study abroad programs. Finishing a degree has just become easier with credit and non-credit courses offered over the Internet. University College also allows students to take advantage of summer session and weeklong intercession courses, giving students the ability to pursue their education at their convenience.
